HOW HAWK DESIGN DEPOT BEGAN

It began with Lisa seeing the business before there was a business.

Hawk Design Depot did not begin with a polished business plan, a storefront, or a finished website.

It began with Lisa recognizing that the books, websites, videos, design work, photography, property-inspection experience, and original ideas Jeff was creating could become something larger.

She encouraged the work, challenged Jeff to take the ideas seriously, and pushed the concept beyond individual projects. Today, Lisa is actively developing the storefront and merchandise side of Hawk Design Depot while Jeff focuses on design, video production, writing, commercial property services, photography, and creative development.

Lisa did not simply support Hawk Design Depot. The idea for the business was hers, and her belief in what it could become is one of the reasons it exists.

MEET LISA

Thirty-eight years of nursing experience—and a lifetime of understanding people.

Lisa brings 38 years of experience as a registered nurse to Hawk Design Depot. Much of her career has been spent specializing in psychiatric nursing, working in environments where patience, communication, observation, judgment, and understanding people are essential.

A nursing career teaches lessons that extend far beyond healthcare. It teaches you how to listen, how to remain steady when situations become complicated, how to make thoughtful decisions, and how to recognize that every person comes with a different story and different needs.

Lisa brings that perspective to the business every day. She is also helping build BLUE HAWX and the Hawk Design Depot storefront, evaluating merchandise, shaping the customer side of the brand, and helping decide how the business grows from here.

MEET JEFF

Operations experience with a creative side that never stayed quiet.

Jeff Hauck Sr. has spent much of his professional career solving practical problems through facilities management, operations, safety, project development, commercial property inspections, vendor management, and capital planning.

That work taught him how to manage complicated projects, communicate clearly, control budgets, solve unexpected problems, and bring work to completion.

But creativity has always been part of the picture. Jeff is also an author, photographer, musician, storyteller, website developer, designer, and video creator. Hawk Design Depot became the place where those different parts of his experience could finally work together.

YEARS ON THE ROAD

Inspections took Jeff across the country. Photography taught him to really see it.

For years, Jeff's work required extensive travel conducting inspections and working with properties across the United States—from Washington State to New Jersey and countless places in between.

Those trips exposed him to different communities, landscapes, buildings, neighborhoods, people, and ways of life.

Real places became part of the creative toolbox. Whenever time allowed, Jeff photographed what caught his attention: nature, wildlife, landscapes, architecture, everyday scenes, and street photography. Sometimes the subject was dramatic. Sometimes it was something most people might walk past without noticing.

Over time, photography became another way of learning to observe. That habit of looking closely at light, expressions, surroundings, details, and moments influences Jeff's writing, video work, and visual creativity today.

A writer has to notice things. A photographer does too.

Hauck is pronounced “HAWK”—which made the name Hawk Design Depot feel pretty natural.
